Russian born artist Marc Chagall (1887-1985) is particularly well-known for his dream like, almost surrealistic paintings. Less well-known, however, is his impressive work in ceramics. A large part of this work, produced in the small town of Vallauris on the French Riviera, is now in the possession of his daughter. In the spring of 2005 these works will be on display for the first time in the Netherlands together with pieces from the collection of MHK in Den Bosch. This book explores the significance of Chagall as a ceramist and places his work in the context of twentieth century decorated ceramics. Over 100 full-colour illustrations of Chagall's ceramic works are featured. Text in Dutch & English
